An Altered Book

I really enjoy making  altered book pages and mixed media projects.
Thanks to Rosemary Maris for inspiring me with one of her finished altered books. And leading me to a mixed media artist, LorriMarie Jenkins.

29 Faces in September

September is here and it's time for 29 Faces!

My theme, "Facing The Garden."
I'm going to attempt to draw, and when possible, paint a series of 29 faces within flowers, or vegetables or fruits.

Our fearless 29 Faces Leader, Martha, has given a prompt word for the first week of 29 Faces.
The word is "Aretha."

It's not that we must do an Aretha face, but I really wanted to try.
So sorry Aretha, please for give me. It doesn't really look a lot like Aretha but it's my tribute. I found a photo of Aretha Franklin from 1967 approximately and I used it as my reference for my drawing. I then scanned the drawing and I scanned a lily flower drawing I had, I then digitally merged the face with the flowers.
I printed it out and then added some additional shading.

'WHO ARE YOU" WORKSHOP

For several weeks in January I stayed warm and cozy taking a workshop with Jodi Ohl.  The workshop is called "Who Are You." I  found the class to be relaxing and fun. Jodi shares her painting techniques and has an easy going attitude . Her step by step videos are simple to follow. The beauty of these online classes is that you can go back and watch the videos as often as you like.
Below are my painting from the class.

This wasn't my first class with Jodi, I've also took her "Let's Face it Class."
Go here to visit Jodi's blog or here to see her classes at Creative Workshop.

A Creative Spirit...

During the month of January I've been enjoying an online class with Jodi Ohl.
The class is called "Who Are You?"
I'll be posting more information and my pictures soon.

For February I'm going to attempt a challenge.
I'm joining a group called
"29 Faces in February."

Creating at least one face a day and posting it will be quite a challenge for me.

If you're interested in the challenge and joining the group here is the link. I also have the link listed in the side bar.
