Christmas Story Stockings

I've finished the last Christmas Story Stocking for this year and listed it in my Etsy shop. I managed to decorate two wreaths for the shop as well this weekend, but now I must devote some time to making a few gifts to give.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks to Karen at The Graphic Fairy for inspiring this favor idea. Last month Karen posted two Halloween images and a project idea to glue the images on large match boxes. I liked the idea and thought it would be fun to make some decorated match boxes for Thanksgiving favors. I made little draw string pouches, decorated the top and bottom of small matchboxes with two of Karen's images for Thanksgiving. I purchases some cute pumpkin scented and pumpkin shaped candles to add to the sacks. I also made a few with apple scented tea lights.

Another "Christmas Story Stocking"

Finally, I've finished another stocking for my Etsy shop.

This one is titled "Rejoice"

Rejoice The True Meaning of Christmas
Shared In "A Christmas Story Stocking" is my Etsy title.

This is my Etsy description: This art canvas stocking measures about 17” from top to bottom and 13 ½” from heel to toe. It is fully lined in a gold star pattern on red cotton and double stitched to bear the weight of lots of treasures. A red cord loop is attached at the top for hanging. Five gold jingle bells stitched across the top bring a tingle of music to the story. Italic calligraphy in the center of the front and back tells the story from the N.I.V. version of the Holy Bible in the book of Luke 2: 8-20. It begins with an angel bringing good news of great joy to shepherds by telling them the Savior Christ The Lord has been born. A fine spray of gold glitter adds to the wonder. Lyrics from a verse of the Christmas Carol, “Good Christian Men, Rejoice” are hand-lettered on the front section of the foot. Musical notes embellish the back foot area. Hand-painted stars, trees, pine branches, berries, dots and dashes, swirls and curls decorate the stocking.

The first two pictures were taken inside. The last one was taken outside. It's been dreary and I just didn't have great lighting. I didn't want to postpone listing any longer. Christmas is almost here!

Giving Thanks!

Lynn at The Vintage Nest is having a Giving Thanks blog party. She invited everyone and she is giving away prizes too. Stop by her blog and say hello, then follow the party links of gratitude.
I'm thankful to Lynn for inspiring us with her thoughtfulness and for sharing her creativity.

I am very grateful for my freedom. I am so thankful that I'm living in a country where I can live and work and worship as I choose. I'm grateful to our men and women who have served and who are currently serving in our military branches. Their sacrifice allows me the freedom that I have.

I'm thankful to have a family that I will be sharing a bountiful table with this Thanksgiving. I am grateful to God for all the blessings we have.
This was the Thanksgiving table setting last year at my house.

After feasting on turkey and all the trimmings came desserts.
Pumpkin pie, apple pie and carrot cake.

And this year...
I'm thankful to have a brother and a sister-in-law
and I am gratiful that they have invited us to their house for
"Thanksgiving" dinner.

Pink Saturday November 6, 2010

This photo was taken in October outside the local post office. I never really noticed pink autumn leaves until I starting looking for things to take pictures of for Pink Saturday posts.

And I would never have taken a photograph of a chair at a store before Pink Saturdays. Should I be worried? Have a wonderful Pink Saturday and don't forget to visit our PS hostess Beverly at How Sweet The Sound.
Before you go, if you scroll to the post below this one you will see that midnight tonight is the deadline to enter my give-away!

Give Away ~ Celebration Extension

To celebrate my birthday I decided to have a give away. Since I only posted my give-away on the 27th I've decided to extend the deadline a few more days. Midnight Saturday, November 6 is the new ending date. The winner will be selected on Sunday, November 7th.
I thought one of my calligraphed angel quotations would be a perfect give away for the month of October, Breast Cancer Awareness month.

The quotation is by Luciano de Crescenzo.
"We are each of us angels, with only one wing. And we can only fly embracing each other."

It's one of my favorite quotes. I hope you like it too.
To enter my give away you must be a follower and leave a comment on this post

The light oak frame measures 7 3/4"  x  7 3/4". The mat photographed a dark grey but it's  more blue, my lighting was poor. The Italic lettering is done in a rainbow of gouache.
