Tag Tuesday ~ March 29, 2011 ~ Vintage Sewing

Yes, I know it's Wednesday but I want to show you the tag I made for this weeks challenge at the Blog Challenge Garden. The theme Rebecca selected for the tag this week is "vintage sewing". I looked to see what I had on hand in images and then I remembered that I had this vintage sewing needle packet. It was my mother's. I scanned the front and back of the original (the one on the right). I re-sized it and printed the two images onto photo paper, cut and glued the pieces together. I think it looks like all the needles are real in the reproduction, however there are only two real needles stuck into the small piece of gold foil paper that I glued to the top section. I added a button closure to the top of the needle case. I glued the case to the tag. The tag background is a vintage J.P Coats thread image from the wonderful Karen at the Graphic's Fairy.  I pinked the edges of the tag and embellished it with a few threaded buttons, some lace, and cotton yarn. Click on the Blog Challenge Garden name to visit Rebecca and find a few more vintage sewing tags.

Tag Tuesday for March 22, 2011

I want to say thanks to Louise from Kard Krazy for starting Tag Tuesday and hosting the fun challenge. Tag Tuesday really inspired me to make tags.  Louise had to eliminate some activities in her busy life and will no longer be hosting the challenge. Rebecca at BellaSouth is taking over hosting Tag Tuesday. The challenges will be posted at the Blog Challenge Garden.

For Rebecca's first challenge she asked us to Think Spring. I've never been to Paris but as I thought about Spring and how to make the tag the song April In Paris came to mind. My tag background is a decorative card stock. The image is from Gail at Shabby Cottage Studio. I added a paper flower, a silk flowers, a paper butterfly, (hidden under the ribbon on the upper right side) and some word balloons. I finished the trimming with a Sheer and frayed metallic ribbons. Please click on the Blog Garden Challenge link to visit all the Tag Tuesday participants for inspiration and ideas.

Thank you Rebecca for hosting the challenge!

Pink Saturday ~ March 19, 2011

In your Easter bonnet with all the frills upon it...

I could not resist this bargain at Target. A PINK bonnet and white gloves with PINK bows for $2.00.

Don't you love the hang tags explaining what the items are?

I wanted to get them for my granddaughter. Okay, I'll be honest I wanted them for a Pink Saturday post.

I added just a few little flowers to the hat.  I think they will be perfect with the PINK flowered sun dress I bought her for her birthday. She does love PINK!
Happy Pink Saturday! Please visit the Queen of Pink Saturday Beverly at How Sweet The Sound.

100th Post Give Away and Happy Pink Saturday~March 12th

Happy Pink Saturday!
I know it's early Friday morning, but I'm excited about something and before I show you my Pink Saturday offerings I’d like to share something else.

Since I’m at home every day now there are a few changes in my routine. The most significant is being able to blog more. I started my blog in August of 2009. I only posted 3 times that year. I wasn’t sure I really wanted to post my thoughts and my creative endeavors for others to read or see. But, slowly I began to post more. August of 2010 is when I feel I was really ready to get more involved. I had made the decision to retire at the end of the year from my job and I wanted to get back to being creative.

(The links to the company that offered a $25.00 gift certificate to me for my 100th post give away celebration has been removed as per requested by the awarding company).

Good luck my friends!Sometime after 5:00 PM today please hop on over to say hello to our P.S. hostess Beverly at How Sweet The Sound and then click on the links she has listed to visit over 100 other participants for some awesome eye-candy. Beverly asked that we post pink and green today in honor of St. Patrick's Day. I thought this needlework piece that I made a long time ago would be great for today. There are pink and green colors and it has spring babies and clover. Clover?

I guess I need some shamrocks, below is my St. Patrick’s Day offering.

Those tricky little leprechauns!

"Cock-a-doddle-doo" and "C'est la vie"~French County Pillows

It was time to make something with this Wedgwood Blue, Country Life pattern Toile that I've had tucked away in my fabric stash for many years.

One of my favorite scenes depicted on the fabric is the woman and children feeding chickens. I found a wonderful vintage rooster at the Graphic Fairy and brought him home. I digitally changed him to a lovely shade of blue and had him take center stage. I framed him in a vintage trim then added an eyelet ruffle to surround the pillow. A silk organza packet of Provence lavender is tucked inside the zippered poly-filled pillow form. Surely a field of lavender is nearby.  This one is headed to my Etsy shop.

Cock-a-doodle-doo!

Romantic picnic side
This one is a shabby-chic mix of old and new. Coffee stained cotton, trimed in vintage lace, and a pale pink rose pattern trim is at either end of the 12" by 16" pillow. The vintage image of a women lounging in a garden of roses in the center of this pillow is from Shabby Cottage Studio. A trio of tiny silk roses is stitched to the top left of the image.

C'est la vie!
