Butterfly Migration to Canada

Don't worry this migration isn't a strange anomaly.
The butterflies I speak of are suppose to fly to Trudi's Studio in Canada. Trudi is collecting as many butterflies as she can from her artistic friends. She takes photographs of them and then posts them on her blog. She will eventually re-package them and ship the large butterfly collection to the Holocaust Museum in Texas. The Museum is trying to collect 1.5 million butterflies. I am honored to have been invited through Trudi to participate in the Butterfly Project. My butterflies arrived at Trudi's around the same time as my friend Cindy Adkin's butterflies arrived, our butterflies helped our group collection to reach 50. Trudi has featured Cindy's butterflies and my butterflies together on her blog this week. Visit Trudi to see our group collection and to find more information about the project.
There is still time for you to participate in the project and join our migration!

Pink Saturday - October 30, 2010

Happy Pink Halloween

The image of the woman is from a Mind Wide Open challenge about two years ago. This is a collage I created using Print Shop. I didn't have PhotoShop Elements at the time. I didn't have a blog and I didn't enter it in the challenge, I was not ready to get out of my comfort zone. I adjusted the colors a little for PS.

Stop by "How Sweet The Sound" and wish Beverly, our Pink Saturday hostess, a Happy Halloween. From there you can go "Trick or Treating" collecting goodies at other Pink Saturday participating blogs.

I'm having a celcbration "Give Away" scroll down to the next post to see the details.

Pink Saturday ~ October 23, 2010

Welcome to another Pink Saturday brought to you by Beverly at "How Sweet The Sound" please click on her name to visit her blog where you can say hello to her and link up with more Pink Saturday participanats.

October is breast cancer awareness month. The photo I'm posting today was taken last week. We were visiting some shops in Lititz PA. As we walked along I saw these beautiful pink Petunias shining through the decaying leaves and cracks in this broken sidewalk.
Happy Pink Saturday.

Autumn At The Lake

This is one of several pictures my DH took at the lake near our home.
We are considering having prints made, matting them and selling them in my new etsy store. The colors are gorgeous.

Fabric Stores, Craft Stores, Dollar Stores...

Don't you just love the dollar stores? One of my favorite places to shop is the Dollar Tree Stores. On a recent trip I picked up a few things to play with and as time goes by I'll share what I have done with my thrifty treasures.

A $4.00 Spree, whee!

Add some paint, a little real grapevine, real acorns, silk leaves (from the dollar store, of course).

An autumn center piece. A second trip for the little pumpkin and the silk leaves.

Pink Saturday ~ October 16, 2010

Happy Pink Saturday!

My granddaughter, Emma, loves peace signs. She was delighted to take a picture of this large graffiti peace sign she found emblazoned on the road.
I altered the original artist's colors for PS.
I'm not sure if the artist used spray paint or chalk, but it's completely weathered away now and the road is back to its original state.

Below is a pink eraser I purchased at a local dollar store. It does erase nicely and it serves as a pretty good paper-weight as well. I was thinking it would be the size the graffiti artist might need to clean up the road.

Don't forget to stop by and say hello to Beverly at  "How Sweet the Sound"  and to find the links to other PS participants.

The Butterfly Effect...

A calling ~

The Butterfly Project is an effort of the Holocaust Museum in Houston, Texas. In the spring of 2013 the museum is planning a special exhibit to memorialize the 1.5 million Jewish children who were murdered by the Nazis during the Holocaust. They are collecting 1.5 million handmade butterflies.

I heard about this special project through Debbie at The Gathering Nest who heard about it through Trudi at Two Dresses Studio. Click  on  Trudi's blog name or the “Butterfly Effect” button on my side bar to find out how you can participate and help the museum  to reach their goal.

Here are two butterflies I've made and will be sending to Trudi.

A painted toggle button, a bead, a little scrap fabric, ribbon and antenna.

A vintage butterfly from "The Graphic's Fairy" printed on cotton fabric, lightly stuffed, stitched and frayed at the edges.

On the back of the vintage butterfly I've written the poem, "The Butterfly" the author of the poem was a young man, Pavel Friedmann, who was deported to  the Terezin ghetto in 1942 and two years later he died in Auschwitz.

Pink Saturday ~ October 9, 2010

To The Daisy
an excerpt by William Wordsworth

"I see thee glittering from afar-
And then thou art a pretty star;
Not quite so fair as many are
In heaven above thee!
Yet like a star, with glittering crest,
Self-poised in air thou seem'st to rest;
May peace come never to his nest,
Who shall reprove thee!"

Pink Saturday - October 2, 2010

My collection of pale pink and white piggies. While most piggies like to play in mud, these cuties prefer to wallow in pink roses.

Another Pink Saturday brought to you by Beverly at How Sweet The Sound   stop by her blog to say hello and get connected to more PS participants.
